Have you been able to experience a lot of outdoor time since moving into our apartments on Lakeshore Blvd.? Austin is a little outdoor-obsessed, so it’s easy to find a friend or neighbor who’s willing to go down to Town lake, hang out with you at Zilker Park, or take a hike along the Greenbelt. If no one’s around to help you explore the great outdoors, we hope you’ll be willing to check them out alone! Austin is a friendly city, and it’s easy to meet people who are soaking up the sun on their own time.
Another great way to get to know the city’s outdoor destinations is by taking your pet to the park or the trails. Dog lovers seem to always find each other in this town, and dogs are the best conversation starter. We’ve told you how easy it is to get out and meet people outside, now we’re going to tell you about our favorite outdoor activities in Austin!
Check out the list of outdoor activities below, and please be sure to share this blog with your friends and neighbors at your community of Riverside Austin apartments!
Paddle Boarding on Town Lake
Next time you’re crossing the one of the bridge over the river on a sunny day, look down at the water. Chances are, you’ll see it filled with kayakers, paddle boarders and people riding around in strange swan-shaped boats. These people are having a blast, and you’ll have a blast if you join them. There’s a paddleboard/kayak rental place behind the Hyatt Hotel on between Congress and 1st Street, and they’ll rent you a paddleboard for $15/hour. It might take you a second to get used to standing up on the water, but it’ll all be worth it when you’re cruising past downtown on your board.
Finding the rope swings on the Greenbelt
Anyone who’s lived in Austin for more than a couple days has been to the Greenbelt, but there are a lot of hidden hangout spots on the Greenbelt that we want our residents to know about! We’re big fans of the rope swings that hang over the water on the Greenbelt — when water is present, that is. There’s a rope swing between Barton Springs and Spyglass, and another just past the Gus Fruh Boulder. Next time you wake up to a sunny day after a long night of rain, go find these rope swings!
Peter Pan Mini Golf
This last one is kind of cheating, but it is technically an outdoor activity! Peter Pan Mini Golf is located behind the McDonald’s on South Lamar, and it’s a BYOB establishment! The mini-golf course has been around for over 60 years, and it’s the perfect place for a midday date or a fun activity to enjoy before having a meal at one of the many restaurants on Barton Springs Rd. Check it out next time you want to hang out outside without breaking a sweat!
Those are all the outdoor activities we’ve got for you this week, residents!
