Pair salt with acid
It’s highly unlikely that you forget to put salt on your meal, but are you remembering to pair your salt with an acid? Next time you go to the grocery store, be sure to grab some lemon or lime juice while you’re in the produce section. Keep it handy and squirt some on your food every time you cook. Acid brings out others flavors in your food.
Go light on the seasoning
We’re not telling you to use a small amount of seasoning, we’re just telling you not to press it into your meat too much. Doing this can damage the meat fibers and ruin the flavor of your meat. Sprinkle the seasoning on top and lightly press it in with the tips of your fingers before putting the meat on the stove. If you've been pressing your seasoning in too hard for awhile, you’ll notice the difference in taste right away after trying this new method!
Don’t overcrowd the pan
Everyone wants to fill the pan with as many ingredients as possible to cook meals quickly, but that’s going to make your food taste like it was steamed instead of browned. See, food releases moisture as it heats up. All that moisture is going to affect the other food in the pan if it’s too crowded and unless you're cooking rice, you generally don’t want your food to be steamed.
